Juteborg was granted a new R&D project in November 2023. The other partners are Volvo Construction Equipment, Ecoist and Högskolan Borås. The aim is to produce jute granules and filaments, based on the natural fiber of jute. Jute is lightweight, strong, biodegradable, recyclable and compostable. The goal is to be able to reduce the amount of plastic with high tech jute; JuTech™ solutions by using jute as a lightweight filling material and to implement alternative process solutions such as 3DP. The result will be a complement to the previous research result; JutePP®, which is based on jute thread and has a strong reinforcing effect and can replace glass fiber as reinforcement in many applications. The work is carried out within the Strategic innovation program LIGHTer, a joint venture by Vinnova, Formas and The Energy Agency.
